宝石之国是全 3D 制作日本动画，画风十分有特色，但原盘画质是能排上号的糟糕。这是一部由锯齿组成的动画，素材原生分辨率只有 720p 左右，后期制作中用 lanczos 算法拉伸至 1080p，因此几乎所有场景中所有的线条都伴随着细密锯齿和振铃瑕疵。动画制作组里必然有量子物理泰斗，月人背后的佛光甚至在宏观尺度下出现了能量不连续效应，断线无法连上，只好当做量子特效了。本片画面背景纹理十分丰富，YUV 三平面噪点也很重，战斗场景也有很多动态画面。这几点导致这部片的体积十分难控制，俄罗斯组甚至打出了体积超过每集 2GB 的暴击。针对以上提到的问题，处理思路为先进行强力抗锯齿和去振铃处理，让这线条能看；再做常规去色带、适度锐化线条和纹理增强，让画面看起来更接近原生 1080p；最后用亮度自适应降噪抹掉人眼不易察觉的亮场噪点，削弱中亮度区域噪点，保留暗部噪点，尽可能在保持画面质感的前提下控制体积。经过五六个版本的测试，最终平均体积在 x265 的加成下得以控制到约平均每集 1.3GB。
Land of The Lustrous is a Japanese 3D anime with unique visual style but unfortunately goddamn bad image quality. The whole anime is made up of low-resolution materials and upscaled to 1080p with lanczos, which caused star-burst-aliasing everywhere and some ringring. Unbelievably some rays are even broken into pieces as if Energy Discontinuity showed up at macro level. Maybe there is a doctor of Quantum Physics hiding among the anime staff. It's hard to control the bitrate due to rich textures in the background and heavy YUV-grains, but we finally made it. And we fixed all artifacts, kept most grains and slightly sharpened the image in order to make it look like 1080p.
pre-processing: anti-star-burst-aliasing, de-banding, de-awful-ringring, luma-adaptive de-grain, texture enhancement.
